The PIV Credential

Q: What information is on the PIV Credential? Is it encrypted? A: The information written on the PIV credential is done so in an encrypted manner by the credential management system. Each PIV credential contains an integrated circuit chip (ICC), optional bar codes, and magnetic stripe. The Applicant’s picture, name, issuing agency, and expiration date are visible on the front of the credential.
